How to Really Change Your Life

To change your life… change your actions

If you’re reading this, you’re likely looking for ways that you can change your life for the better.

We have all experienced disappointments and setbacks that were not our fault. Sometimes awful things just happen, even to the nicest of people.

It’s what we do next that makes all the difference. Do we complain and blame, or do we take action to improve our situation?

That choice is up to us. We are responsible for how we respond to both the positive and the negative events of our lives.

To change your actions… change your attitude

But maybe our own actions haven’t been the best either? What we do is always driven by how we think and how we feel about the situations that we encounter and the attitudes that surround us.

How we think is especially critical. Change has to happen between the ears before it happens anywhere else.

The things we do are always motivated by the things we think. If your thoughts and feelings are on the right track, your actions can’t help but follow.

Determine now to have an attitude that will drive you forward to the best possible actions and outcomes for your life.

To change your attitude… change your input

But sometimes our attitudes can be influenced by unwholesome thoughts, bad memories, and misguided ideas that keep us from achieving the success we desire.

Guard your heart and rid your mind of these things that can hold you back:

  • memories of being judged and put down by others
  • bitterness and resentment
  • negative, unwholesome, or violent images from TV, films, and online media
  • so-called friends who are unwilling to support you

Take some time to go through your mental filing cabinet and see if any of these things are keeping you stuck in bad attitudes and unhealthy habits.

Fill your mind instead with stories, images, and people that will motivate, encourage, and help you along the way.

  • read good books
  • watch uplifting movies, documentaries, and testimonies
  • limit your online time to positive things that will inspire you
  • surround yourself with people who help and encourage you

As the earliest computer programmers used to say, “Garbage in, garbage out.” If the code that you put into the computer is bad, the output will be bad, too. It just won’t work the way you intend it to.

Life is the same way. Fill your mind, your heart, and your home with what is good and positive. These things will go a long way toward changing your outcome and bringing you the good life and success that you desire.

Choosing our actions wisely results in the best possible outcome in our lives.
