Beauty is not about how you look
Beauty is not about how you look. Beauty is about how you feel, and how you project yourself to the world. You might think that beauty starts with the right hair style, or the right clothes, or a really great mascara. Nope. Maybe you think that beauty starts and ends in the eye of the beholder. Wrong again. Your beauty begins between your ears, in your own mind, your thoughts, and your attitude toward yourself. Beauty is as Beauty thinks While it is true that “Beauty is as Beauty does,” it is also true that Beauty is as Beauty thinks. Shakespeare’s Hamlet says, “There is nothing either good or bad…

How to Choose the Best Facial Mask
Only you can decide what works for you Your best skin care routine depends on your skin type and your lifestyle. So many of us are busy and it can be all too tempting to cut down on skin care – especially if it’s time consuming. Facial masks, where ingredients are applied to the face, left to work their magic, and then washed away, can be a wonderful, soothing, and refreshing addition to your skin care routine, but they can also take a lot of time. No one has hours to devote to mixing up ingredients and then sitting around with a facial mask on waiting for skin to be…

Honey, Oatmeal, and Avocado Facial Masks
Facts You Should Know About Facial Masks What advantages do a honey facial mask, avocado facial mask, and oatmeal facial mask have in common? They all contain nutrients and they can be used to make the skin become softer as well as add moisture. Let’s take a look at the benefits offered by each of the main ingredients. Easy Homemade Face Scrub
Winter can be tough on facial skin. I tend to have dry skin to begin with, and the cold winter winds and drying central heating can leave my face dry and flaky. I was thrilled to come across a great recipe for an easy homemade face scrub that exfoliates my skin without being too harsh. There are only two ingredients in my modified version of the recipe: a rounded teaspoon of white sugar an equal amount of extra virgin olive oil Mix these together whenever you need to give your face a good scrub. To use, rub gently around your face, avoiding the eye area. You do not want oil…

Twiggy is the new normal
I am old enough to remember the 1960’s. Yes, I was just a kid, but I remember the Vietnam war, Walter Cronkite on the evening news, and the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I also remember the semi-scandalous splash that was made back then by a young fashion model named Twiggy. Women’s clothing in the 1960’s was colourful. Skirts were appallingly short, or long, depending upon your tastes. The motto was pretty much “anything goes,” as long as it was daring and bright. Into the midst of all this, came a young model from the U.K. who called herself Twiggy. The name, Twiggy, was well chosen. She was shockingly…

The Power of Beauty: Feel Better, Get Respect
I love watching television shows like What Not to Wear and How to Look Good Naked. In case you don’t know, these shows give women a self-esteem makeover by showing them now they can look fabulous without dieting, liposuction, facelifts, etc. They do this by showing them how to choose clothing that flatters them and how the right hairstyle and a bit of makeup can help them feel better about how they look. To be honest, there was a time when I would have dismissed that kind of thing as superficial fluff. That was before I was ready to deal with my own self esteem issues. To be beautiful is…
